Washington, DC
A trip to the nation’s capital is always exciting! George Washington, the first president and namesake of the city, chose the site and appointed three commissioners to help prepare for the arrival of the new government in 1800. Pierre Charles L’Enfant designed the city as a bold new capital with sweeping boulevards and ceremonial spaces reminiscent of Paris of his native France. Benjamin Banneker, a self-taught African-American mathematical genius, provided the astronomical calculations for surveying and laying out the city. It was another hundred years before the National Mall and other famous landmarks and monuments were established.

Arlington Cemetery Tram Tour

Museum of Crime & Punishment
The museum gives a memorable insight into the history of crime, crime fighting and solving, and the consequences of committing a crime in America. Over 100 interactive exhibits including the CSI Experience and the television set of America’s Most Wanted. (2 hours)

National Air & Space Museum
The Museum maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology and geophysics. (2 hours)

National Archives and Records
The National Archives Building exhibits important American historical documents and collections of photography and other culturally significant American artifacts. (2 hours)

National Museum American History
The museum collects, preserves and displays the heritage of the United States in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific and military history. There is a state-of-the-art gallery for the Star-Spangled Banner, the flag that inspired the national anthem. (2 hours)

National Museum of Natural History
As one of the largest science classrooms in the world, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History invites you to explore the natural world through hands-on & immersive experiences. (2 hours)

The Newseum
An interactive museum of news and journalism that features 15 theaters and 14 galleries that blends five centuries of news history with up-to-the-second innovation and fun. (2 hours)

U. S. Capitol Visitor Center
The Capitol is home to the U.S. Congress and its two legislative bodies, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Through films, exhibits, and tours, you will learn about how Congress works, how this magnificent building was built, and how citizens can participate in this extraordinary experiment called representative democracy.
